Surroundings Three km away from Vaumery lies the village of Montigny en Morvan, where you find a baker with a small supermarket, who visits the house twice a week, and a restaurant where you can eat well for very little money. If you want to eat very nice and refined, yet affordable, or have lunch in an atmospheric environment, drive to La Fontaine Cavalier in Urzy (Domaine Jeunot 58130, www.fontaine-cavalier.com). It is about 1 hour drive through the beautiful landscape.
Slightly further away is the still relatively undiscovered Lac de Pannecière, where it's nice and quiet, where you can fish and where families with children can swim safely in the gradually deepening water and you can enjoy beautiful walks along the Canal de Nivernais, without the usual height differences! |
